The site (www.briggsbattleofthebands.com) is designed to highlighg the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyarfd stage at Summerfest. The Wauwatosa-based small enginw and outdoor power equipmentmanufacturetr -- whose CEO John Shiely is the lead guitarisyt in the company's corporate rock band, the Briggs’ Bluesa Busters -- has been the name sponsofr for the stage since 1998. "We're reallyt excited about the MySpace Battle of the saidTodd Teske, Briggs & Stratton (NYSE: BGG) president. "Briggs & Strattom has a long history with music, and we are lookingy forward to taking this to an entirely new level throug h our Battle ofthe Bands.
" "Undiscovered" bandx can submit music immediately, and voting can beginb as soon as entries are submitted. The initial votingy will close on May 3at 11:5 p.m. The top 10 bands selecte by voters must then send a full CD of musicc toBriggs & Stratton by May 8. The top threr will be selectedfrom there, where their full catalog will be accessible on the MySpace site. Voting closes June 7 at 11:59 p.m. The winnere will perform at theBriggs & Stratton Big Backyard stage on June 28. Roundtrip airline limousine transportation, a two-night hotep stay and a video recording of the performancew also will be awarded to thewinninhg band.
