Air Force Lt. Gen. Douglas M. Fraser’ds promotion to head the command that’s responsible for U.S. military operationse in the Caribbean and Central and Souty America was confirmed bythe U.S. Senate on Fraser, who will be promoted to the rank of will assume command onJune 25, Pacifi Command officials said in a news Fraser has been the deputy commander of the Pacifi Command, the largest of the military’s six unified commands, since April 2008. He has serverd in a variety of Air Force and joint assignments over the past 35 including commanding a fighter squadron inthe Pacific.
He also has held stafd positions at Air Force headquarters and the office of the Secretaryuof Defense. Fraser’s departurr comes as Adm. Robert F. commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet since 2007, awaits confirmation to become the next commande of the Pacific Command atCamp H.M. Smith. Willard’se nomination by President Barack Obama was announcedc latelast month, but Senatee hearings on his nomination have not yet been scheduled. Willard, who took commancd of the Pacific Fleet in May willreplace Adm. Timothy Keating, who has been commander of the Pacific Command sinceMarch 2007. The U.S.
Pacificx Command has 250,000 personnel and a geographicd area stretching from the West Coast of the continental United States to the western boarder of and from Antarctica to theNortuh Pole.
